Prayer For Self-Control Removing a Bad Habit

I’m sorry, Lord. I want to make a change. I don’t want to live like this anymore. Help me to rid of ___________ from my life so that I may fully immerse myself in Jesus Christ and not gratify the desires of my flesh (Ro.13:14). Thank you for providing an escape route when I find myself tempted to go back to my old ways. Father, thank you for always loving me with unconditional love and guidance that leads me to be the person I want to be. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Remember, nothing separates you from the Father’s love. But when I’m feeling guilty about yelling at my kids or scrolling on my phone. I end up avoiding God just like when Adam and Eve hid from God. God knew they sinned, but God loved them by showing up in the garden and providing for them. When we make mistakes, God wants to spend time and help you too.

Anger and Self-Control In the Bible

Consider how things turned out for Moses if you are having trouble controlling your temper. In anger, he killed an Egyptian, broke the ten commandments, and disobeyed God by striking the rock.

Moses couldn’t enter the promised land because of his temper. What Could anger be keeping you from?

The good news is if you have bursts of anger, remember there is no commendation for those who are in Christ. I had an issue with yelling at my kids, but through God’s help, I infused my home with peace.

Of course, God loves you when you’re angry or not. But anger can keep you from walking in the promises. So let’s pray!

“Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.” Eph 4:31-32.

Battle for Self-Control, Joseph Verses Samson

Samson had no self-control. It seems the only time he prayed to God was when he was in trouble. Joseph was a praying man seeking God’s will for his life. Samson allowed his flesh to control him, whereas Joseph was disciplined since he followed the spirit.

Joseph controlled his emotions, forgave those who hurt him and became second in command in Egypt. On the other hand, Samson died got even with his enemies and allowed his emotions to rule his his life and died blind in the mist of his enemies.

“Here’s my instruction: walk in the Spirit and let the Spirit bring order to your life. If you do, you will never give in to your selfish and sinful cravings.” Gal. 5:16 The Voice.
