Traveling is exciting but also tricky. You never know what might happen. Therefore, prayers for travel safety are essential to smooth out any problems along the way. After all, travel includes lots of waiting time, which are perfect opportunities to pray for traveling mercies. Included in this post are many different prayers for travel that can be used, to remember to trust God to keep us safe while we are traveling.

God, our Heavenly Father, we come to You today asking for Your protection as we travel by plane. Heavenly Father, we praise You we can travel and see unknown places. We ask that as we journey on the roads, you would keep us safe from all harm and accidents. We ask for excellent weather conditions and our car to be in perfect mechanical condition. Keep us safe while we stop at all rest stops and gas stations along the route. This is what I do before a road trip. I pull out of the garage and stop in my driveway and pray to God for my vehicle to be in good condition and for me to arrive at my destination safely. Then I turn my attention to my house and pray that God will it safe and secure and watch over any animals who may be there.

Next, I’ll ask my husband and children in the vehicle to join in the prayer for travel safety and ask if they want to add anything to our prayer. We then say “Amen” and start our road trip!

Define Prayer For Traveling Mercies

People pray for travel mercies when they embark on a long journey, possibly on an extended mission trip. Or if the destination is a difficult one like a funeral, on this occasion it doesn’t seem appropriate to say have a nice trip.

Furthermore, if your journey is proving to be difficult and you may earnestly pray for traveling mercies in the midst of it.

A Biblical example of travel mercies is Paul, a prisoner sent to Rome. On route, he ended up shipwrecked on Malta, due to a violent storm. Despite tough travels, Paul healed people on the island and ended up living on the leader of Malta’s estate for 3 months. When it was time for Paul to leave, the islanders loaded him with supplies. (Acts 28)

Although Paul’s prayer for traveling blessings is not recorded in Scripture, we know he prayed on his travels! So when adversity strikes unexpectedly while you’re on the road. Pray!

You never know what God may do to turn things around.

When our family members are traveling without else, we can feel worried about them traveling. Praying for them will help to remove our anxious feeling and give us some peace of mind that God is with them.
