May 2020 Prophetic Word 8 Ways to Strengthen Yourself

In this transitional month, ask the Lord to strengthen you and give you strategies on how to operate in the “new normal.” Learn 8 ways to strengthen yourself in the Lord because the enemy desires to lead you into despair. After all, it’s easy to slip into depression when you are isolated, dealing with losses, of loved ones, jobs, and old familiar ways of doing things. But God is still by our side guiding us every step of the way.

DAVID

God promised to make David a king. Yet, he was a fugitive for fifteen years, while King Saul plotted to murder David. The psalms are filled with David’s struggles and anguish. David had to doubt if he’d ever be king.

ZIKLAG

Disaster strikes at Ziklag, David’s city is burned to the ground. His family along with his 600 warrior’s wives and children were captured by the enemy. Besides losing his family, David’s own friends debated stoning him to death. At that moment, David found strength in God.

“But David strengthened himself in the LORD his God.”

8 WAYS TO STRENGTHEN YOURSELF IN THE LORD

1 GOD’S WORD

“My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to your word.”

The Holy Spirit will always speak to you when you open the bible. And you can occupy the prophetic words for May 2020 and 8 ways to strengthen yourself.

2 MEDITATE ON SPECIFIC VERSES

When the world around you is shaking and fear creeps in find reassuring verses to meditate on. My go-to verses last month are below.

“Let the weak say I am strong!“

Or

“Strengthen the weak hands, And make firm the feeble knees. Say to those who are fearful-hearted, “Be strong, do not fear! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, With the recompense of God; He will come and save you.”

3 GOD WILL STRENGTHEN YOU

In trials, keep looking for God’s help in unexpected ways. And it may be one of the 8 ways to strengthen yourself.

Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD!

When David pursued his family, he “accidentally” ran into someone the led David into the enemy’s camp. This person helped David recover everything the enemy stole. The Lord will also place people on your path to help you get back what the enemy has stolen from you.

4 ENCOURAGING WORDS

Job instructed his “friends” on how to help him by speaking encouraging words instead of mocking him.

“But I would strengthen you with my mouth. And the comfort of my lips would relieve your grief.” 

Lift others up by speaking kind words to those around you. Speak kind words to yourself in your own thoughts. No more stinking thinking!

5 ANGELS

Jesus prayed in the garden and the garden of Gethsemane.

Then an angel appeared to Him (Jesus) from heaven, strengthening Him. 

This month will bring an increase of angelic activity around us. Ask for angels to strengthen you.

6 REMEMBER GOD’S PROMISES

“And Saul’s son, Jonathan went to David at Horesh and helped him (David) find strength in God. ”

Jonathan encouraged David, rehearsing God’s promise that David would be crowned, King of Israel. We need to remind ourselves of God’s promises over our own lives to keep from getting discouraged.

7 DON’T LET FEAR OVERRIDE FAITH

David allowed fear to device his own plan. Fear and lack of faith in God’s plan led David to live in Ziglag in the enemy’s territory. A set-up for failure.

“But David kept thinking to himself, “Someday Saul is going to get me. The best thing I can do is escape to the Philistines.”

Fear can lead a person to make impulsive decisions. With the barren store shelves, I have purchased some interesting food items I will probably never use and need to donate. When fear comes in like a flood I need to fight against unbelief.

8 ASK THE LORD

We are learning 8 ways to strengthen yourself. And finally, when all was lost, David asked Lord what he should do, the Lord said—

“Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.”

During David’s time, they used the ephod to ask the Lord for instruction.

A cloud led the people during the day and a pillar of fire at night, during Moses’ time.

Today God speaks directly to each one of us, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” John 10:27

BEHIND THE SCENES

During what seemed to be a tragedy at Ziklag, the Lord was working all things out on David’s behalf. In just a few days, Saul would die on the battlefield and finally, David would be king. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Moreover, God is always helping us, our breakthrough can be closer than we know.

THE ENEMY TACTICS THIS MONTH

The enemy is working overtime to making people depressed even bringing thoughts of suicide, especially where there has been a history of suicides in a family.

GENERATIONAL CURSES

I was watching Who Do You Think You Are, the show about discovering your family tree. In many episodes, each generation is dealing with the same addictions, even when the family has no knowledge of each other. It’s crazy!

I always thought Jesus’ victory on the cross took care of any generational curses. But the Lord was showing me, I had to enforce Jesus’ victory by decreeing, declaring, and even renouncing oaths made by previous generations

BIBLICAL EXAMPLES

Throughout King David’s family sexual sin and murder prevalent.

King Saul violated a 350-year-old Gibeonite treaty, causing a famine and ultimately costing  the death of seven of Saul’s sons/grandsons.

GENERATIONAL PRAYER

In the name of Jesus, I cover my family with the blood of Jesus on both my maternal and paternal sides in all the generations, leading all back to Adam. I break off any addictions, word curses, agreements, the spirit of despair, suicide, hopelessness, sickness, poverty mindsets, murder, witchcraft, demonic activity, strongholds, sexual sin, false religions anything less than what God has planned for my family lines. I bind all these things in the name of Jesus and lay them at the cross and cover them in the blood of Jesus. Anything that the enemy has meant for evil the Lord will use for good.

I also forgive each person (past and present) in my family line for their transgressions. Today we turn any unsaved person in my family over to you Lord and declare this family member will be saved and have a relationship with you, Jesus.

GENERATIONAL BLESSINGS

We ask Father God for to bless your family with the fruit of the Spirit-love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness. faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5.22-23). We ask in Jesus’ name that my family will reclaim any unfulfilled generational blessings that the enemy came to kill, steal, and destroy. Thank you, Lord Jesus!

After you pray this prayer, the Holy Spirit might reveal all sorts of things through dreams or visions or other means. Ask the Holy Spirit how to proceed with what He reveals to you. While I was working on May prophetic word, archaeologists found an artifact in Ziglak, supporting that Ziglak was an actual city.
