December 2020 Prophetic Spectacular

I’m not feeling the word the Lord gave me this month. It’s…

Spectacular? I confess after this year of the pandemic, looting and loss. I’m having a tough time wrapping my brain around the word spectacular unless it’s scary spectacular. Things in the natural look chaotic, but God is reminding me I’m supposed to walking by faith and not by sight.

Spectacular

Generally, spectacular means beautiful, eye-catching, and dramatic. Synonyms include sensational, magnificent, splendid, glorious, etc. Spectacular also means a show/theater, many Christmas shows contain the word spectacular in their ads like the Rockettes. All that sound hopeful, especially since most of 2020 has been a spiritual battle over our health, home, families, and nation. The following is a bible verse that utilizes the word spectacular.

“He (David) risked his life and struck down the Philistine (Goliath), and the Lord brought about a spectacular deliverance for all of Israel.”

Currently, our nation seems to be in a Goliath versus David situation, with two divided groups watching on the sidelines.

Or maybe you’re facing a giant pile of bills, a difficult marriage or trying to win approval from a nutty narcissist that is giving you JPN (just plain nonsense). Whatever your current situation is let’s continue believing and praying for God to show Himself as the miracle working God in December.

Please Note starting 4-21, monthly prophetic words will will only be shared with my subscribers. I’d love to have you!

Sign or not to sign?

There’s a big difference in asking for a sign and demanding a sign from God. Demanding signs from God as a test to prove He is God is exposing your unbelief. The following verses are from the Pharisees and Sadducees, who refused in believing Jesus was God’s Son.

“Then the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and testing Him asked that He’d show them a sign from heaven.” Matthew 16:1 NKJV

“Others, trying to test, demanded that he show them a miraculous sign from heaven to prove his authority.” Luke 11:16 NLT

The religious sect was blind to all the signs Jesus’ already gave them by fulfilling prophecy proving he was God’s Son. Did they forgot all spectacular signs such as feeding the five thousand, casting out demons, healing the blind and lame? But the Pharisees refused to believe. On the other hand, asking for confirming signs from God is an outflowing of an established relationship with God. Biblically support exploring will follow if it’s okay to seek after signs.

Pharisees demand a spectacular sign from Jesus

Ask

Abraham sends his servant to find Isaac a bride. The servant prays then asks God for a sign. The sign is whoever offers him a drink at the well will be Issacs’s fiancée. Of course, the kind woman is Rebecca, the future wife of Isaac and grandmother of Jacob.

Another sign seeker is Gideon he even asks God for two spectacular signs regarding a fleece and dew, see the details here.

In Isaiah, God even encourages the King of Judah to ask for a sign.

“Ask the LORD your God for a sign. It can be anything you want.”

The king is worried about testing God and doesn’t ask for a sign. But then God reveals the best miraculous sign ever to the king.

Therefore, the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

The next section will explore examples of God giving signs without even being asked.

Unexpected Spectacular Signs

1)One unexpected sign is when God tells Moses, “I will be with you and this shall be a sign to you, that I have sent you.” What’s the sign? The burning bush is the spectacular sign Moses happens to stumble upon. Of course God knew where to place the bush for Moses to see.

2)Surprisingly, God informs Gideon, he will be victorious in the next battle. But since God knows Gideon is into signs, God tells Gideon to sneak into the enemy’s camp for a confirming sign.  Sure enough, Gideon overhears men talking about a dream and the interpretation of the dream is, “God has given the Midianites and the whole camp into his (Gideon) hands.” Judges 7:14  When Gideon hears this confirming word, he attacks the enemy and is victorious.

3)Another unexpected sign was on the night Jesus was born. The angels told the shepherds. “And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.” Discover the alternative birthplace of Jesus by this in-depth article about deciphering the clues the angels provided the shepherds.

Again, the shepherds were tending their flock, not asking for any signs, but yet God provides signs to find His infant Son. In fact, God will even give encouraging signs while we are in the middle of serving him.

Streaker in  Gethsemane

I’d always ponder what was the purpose of mentioning the naked disciple. While the guards tried arresting one of Jesus’ disciples “he pulled free of the linen cloth and ran away naked.” Matthew 14:52 BSB

Finally, it came to me. The naked man was a sign pointing Jesus to the garden of Eden and bolstering his strength by reminding Jesus of when naked Adam ran from God. The naked man represent fearful mankind separated from God. Back in Eden, God sacrificed an animal to provide physical coverings for Adam and Eve. But at the cross, Jesus sacrificed himself becoming our spiritual covering for all eternity. Below is a verse that Jesus’ death is our spiritual covering guaranteeing  us eternal life.

For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. In this tent we groan, longing to put on our heavenly dwelling, if indeed by putting it on we may not be found naked. For while we are still in this tent, we groan, being burdened—not that we would be unclothed, but that we would be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.

Sign Adam and Eve naked in garden

I believe God provided the sign of the naked man in Gethsemane to encourage Jesus to go through the agony of the cross to restore our relationship with our Father God. And that’s the entire reason God gives signs along our journey to strengthen us and provide direction. Every sign from God is a joyful miracle from the small to the spectacular sign.
